The manipulation of docility

First of all, those not understanding what I mean exactly by 'docility'; docility means quiet and easy to influence, easy to persuade, or to control.

People who are docile are easy to manipulate and to force them to do things against their inner will is not a difficult task.

But why on earth am I talking about manipulation?

This week I watched the social experiment, 'The Push' by Derren Brown on Netflix.

As a recommendation of a friend, I started watching it with high expectations.

Although I already know for years, by learning this in psychology courses at school, how peer pressure can manipulate people to do things against their norms and values, I was triggered to watch the entire social experiment.

Of course I will not spoil, since I want you to watch this as well to be as amazed as I was, hehe.

And lord, I really was not feeling that well when watching it, realizing how far we can go as humans, doing horrible thing to others without fully being aware of our acts.

Again, for the thousandth time and as psychologists already warned us about since both World Wars (referring to Hitler and Stalin here), we live in a world where manipulation seems almost normal. The everyday news, the warlike circumstances in countries like Turkey and Syria, pushes our faces into daily manipulation by one leader who forces their followers, their people to go against their will to change into robots destroying their own world.

It is horrifying, gruesome and that is why social experiments like these need to be shown, to make us aware about the influence groups, media, leaders or just 1 person can have on us.

We are still the only possessor of ourselves, we are the final decision maker of our own acts and deeds, we and only we decide what WE do.

Please, do not forget this, because I know how easy it is to be naive and to follow others. We do it daily without realizing it.

It is shocking, but in a world where media and fake news have so much influence and control the course of life on earth, we tend to forget ourselves and that is just the opposite of what we need to do.

Do not forget about who you are and what you stand for.

Go on and watch this social experiment and be amazed.

And, do not forget to think, clearly.

Lots of love and enjoy the Easter break!
