Hi beautiful people!!
I literally am the worst blogger on the planet...
It has been more than a month I spoke to you. Shame shame on me.
My sincere apologies for having a busy life at the moment.
Being on Erasmus is a massive adventure, but also a major busy adventure.
And to be honest, apart from not always finding the time to write, I also sometimes don't find the desire to do so.
Then my head fills itself with dark thoughts as 'you need to delete that blog, it doesn't make any sense anymore'.
But you ain't messing with me, brain!!
I need this place to put down the weird twists in my head.
That being said, I'm doing great here in Glasgow!!
At the moment I am enjoying the last weekend of the Easter holidays and owow, it has been so much fun (well apart from this week though).
The week before the break I followed a three day workshop about Drama and digital literacy. This really opened my eyes as a future teacher!
The emphasis on how to introduce and implement the digital technology in the classroom and using drama (e.g. the storyline approach) to learn children about important skills and life lessons, was an interesting world which I loved to be in.
So I made my inner teacher happy those days.
Next to that, something I longed for so so so long, was the visit of my fantastic boyfriend (you're welcome, sweetheart).
I literally had the time of my life! Ten days of laughter, adventure, unexpected encounters, magical music and beautiful views.
It all started with a concert of Bear's Den who just blew me away with their fairylike voices (you can watch a sneak peek of the concert underneath this paragraph).
This was all followed by a sunny day in Edinburgh where we were witnesses of a film production on the Royal Mile (I felt such a voyeur) and having an exhaustive quest to find a place to eat. Finally, after walking in several circles we found a cosy pub with the best food I have eaten in this 2,5 months in Scotland (and that says much about the cuisine in Scotland... Sorry not sorry).
(Sorry for the bad quality, this was filmed with my phone.)
Alright, what else did we do?
OW YES, we went on a three day tour to the Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands. WONDERFUL!! EXQUISITE!! ADMIRABLE!! AMAZING!! (and I can go on for hours). We did so much, from feeding Bambi deers, feeding hairy Highlands cows, to be blown away by views, meeting a Belgian B&B-host, eating Skye mussels, to visit the Culloden Battlefield and searching for Nessie. (Couldn't find it unfortunately but at least I tried right?).
After those magnificent days the boyfriend had to leave me again and return to Belgium (boohoohoohoohoo *crying out loud*).
It was a hard goodbye with some tears the day after. I felt so lonely.
But fortunately, I'm fine again, haha.
Today it is almost the end of the second week of Easter break and this week wasn't that interesting really.
Most students are back home to study for exams or are taking a break and went home as well.
So it's been dead silent here. So what can I better do than work for school (that was my plan eventually, I eventually failed in succeeding and just chilled. Bad MJ.).
Tomorrow is Easter, so I am looking forward to that since my flat mate and I are preparing a brunch ... for ourselves. Still, it will be fun!!
And ... *drum roll* ... in a week I finally start my teaching practice in a primary school. I am so excited and nervous at the same time since I am not a primary teacher (for the ones who don't know me already: in June I graduate as a secondary teacher in English and Dutch). So how the holy moly am I going to teach things to little cute children? No clue at all. But I'm into surprises.
I will keep you posted about it, no worries.
Still/only 5 weeks left!! It is going so fast!!
See you soon (pinky promise) and enjoy Easter.
Lots of love,
MJ
